Sara is a much sought after motivational speaker featured at a variety of events for business, religious, community and volunteer organizations across the nation. She is an expert on grief/loss and cross cultural communication. Her presentations are challenging, informative, practical and sprinkled with humor.

Sara Armstrong is a true life survivor. She tells her stories so others may learn, laugh and grow. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and joined the Peace Corps in 1966 for two years of adventure and self-discovery.  After marrying a Ugandan in 1968, and deciding to live in East Africa, she was launched on a journey through the terror of Idi Amin Dada.  She had a unique insight into the destruction of a prosperous and thriving nation.

Her book, The Shattered Pearl, is an account of her ten years in Africa. Writing the book was a rewarding experience because it is her story and hers alone.  Sara feels that her book entertains as well as educates readers.  Her guide to public speaking is entitled Congratulations! How to Survive Speaking in Public.

Sara has also written a mystery novel, Adinkra and a Civil War adventure Kitui and the Frensel Lens.  Both projects are in development.

After returning from Uganda, she was widowed and threw her energies into raising her two children, taking care of her aging parents and participating in local politics.  She helped to incorporate and served as the first Mayor of the Town of Shorter, Alabama.

Sara remarried in 1992 and was widowed again when Bob Armstrong lost his battle with cancer in 2006.  She now resides in the metro Atlanta area.
